Randy was hired to write vocal arrangements for Incense and Peppermints and develope harmony and blend with band. During the session recording vocals Greg Munford stopped by studio to talk to Bill Holmes, the groups manager about his personal music project, and Bill asked them to lay a track. Everone in group tried the lead vocal. The producer Frank Slay picked Greg's voice even though he wasnt in the band.
The tuen was released twice under the All American Label then the thrid time on MCA Universal Label. Then Gene Gunnel's (the drummer) girlfriend gave him and altimatum and he chose to go with her. The group needed a drummer and since Randy Seol had been playing since he was 5 years old and passed the audition, he was asked to join as drummer and lead singer. When Bill Gaven gave the ok for all syndicated radio stations to paly it took off. The Universal Label was begging for the album to follow it up. Thats when George Bunnell and Steve Bartek was introduced to the band as song writers.

"Maldonado Trio"
In David Maldonado’s CD, “Viaje De Mi Alma (Soul Journey)”, we rediscover what is truly important to us and what we can do to focus on it. For example in the featured song, Winds Of Spain, we remember that we had great aspirations to leave our mark on this world. A desire to influence those around us to become the best they can be, the importance of teaching others who we are through family traditions and culture.
Too often we fall into the pattern of routine because we become “comfortable” with all we have in life. The material things we have keep us from becoming too upset or even motivated to change the world around us. David reminds us in Fantasia that everywhere around us there are people who have less than us. Not by their own doing but the circumstances that influence their lives. This is your opportunity to brighten their lives and help them make a change for the better. The time you spend with them could be measured in minutes and hours but the impact will last a lifetime.
Life is a journey. It can be confusing, inspiring, depressing and passionate all in a short period of time. The value of David Maldonado’s music is that it will serve as the inspiration to get you refocused as to where you have to go and what you get to accomplish...
Nick Castro and the Young Elders
Nick Castro & The Young Elders' attraction to the art of folk music is one of destination as much as determination. The sights and sounds that have influenced this band of high brow bohemians, from the traditional well spring to the experimental ghetto, is music that attempts to transport the listener somewhere between cinematic and transcendent.
The members of The Young Elders have well oiled resumes, multi-faceted musicians who take their cues from many disparate influences-middle eastern, pan cultural, brazilian, jazz, soul, appalachian ballads, soundtracks, acid folk and country- culminating in a sound that is as expansive as it it specific, able to create a feeling that is complete vision wrapped in a warmth that invites just about anybody to float into the sway of this incandescent, angular-yet smooth and sophisticated music. |
