Ortega Family

The Thompson Family are Bill & Judy, when they lost their home. they have a 13 year old daughter and an 11 year old son. Judy is a teacher that lost her job due to budget cuts in the schools. On their property they had a bridge that led to their house, that was also burned in the fire. Now they are working to afford to fix the bridge and replace their home and all that they lost. This is the property that Judy had grown up on, her dad had built the house they lived in, and it is really a special place for her and her family. As the family house was on fire, Judy’s dad stuck around to try to save it and his own home that was also on the property. They are working to put some stability back into their family life. They are also hoping that once they rebuild, Judy’s dad will come to live with them again. The Ortega family consists of a single mom and four children, ages 16, 14, 6 and 3. Her parents also live with her and her children. They had a 4 bedroom 2 bath home in Tecate, CA when the Harris fire hit. After the fire had hit, they where forced to stay with family, and where broken into separate temporary homes. FEMA only went so far, and the grant didn't completely suffice, and the trailer they had on loan was only for a certain time. The only choice we had left was to get a loan from SBA, and we were denied 3 times because our family is self employed. They where only making it before the fire, and had lost everything after. Claudia's goal was just to get her family back together a again. Everything they owned was lost in the fire, and they are just thankful to have each other.

Only with your participation can we make our events sucessful and and help these families and make their dreams of having a house again real. So come join us on the 8th as we begin our journey in helping them rebuild thier lives.
